Routable GPS Map for Kathmandu

Note:  Leave a comment if you are interested in purchasing it.  Only if I get enough people who are interested will I spend the time to compile and sell it.

Routable GPS Map for Kathmandu (works on all Garmin GPS devices) with voice guided turn by turn navigation.  Never get lost again and always know how to get to places in Kathmandu.  Map contains POIs from Lukeko so not only do you know the best places to go you also know how to get there!

This is NOT a subscription based service so the map you purchase will always work and you will never have any monthly subscription fees.

Rs 2200 to purchase
Rs 300 per upgrade

Contact me at sthapit @ sodne.com or leave a comment if you have questions.  Maps for other places in Nepal can be created upon request.  Don't already have a Garmin device?  You can buy one from the authorized Garmin dealer in Nepal.

@manol - haven't tried it on a Nokia (I have a N96 myself) but if you have Garmin Mobile XT it should probably work.

availability of routable kathmandu maps is a hoax. these maps are not available with this person.
I tried to purchase these maps, and contacted him several times, but he just simply ignores all messages.
obviously, he cannot produce kathmandu maps for Garmin.
so, beware before investing with this person !!!!!

@ahmar - not sure what you mean by "investing" since we never really exchanged money. i just got back to nepal 4 days ago and i'm still catching up with more important things in my life than sending you the map for Rs 2200 - spending time to meet and get the money from you is not worth my time right now, it's that simple.

the truth is, making maps is not my profession or business. it's a hobby. maybe if enough people are interested in routable maps for kathmandu i'll make it into a business, but so far it's only a handful so i haven't devoted too much of my efforts on it. i'm sure you agree that's the right thing to do.

If you have other good things to do than to sell this thing, you may as well remove this page, since you are not interested in selling it.

Remove this page and go and do more important things in life. I guess you are either filthy rich or super busy because you don't have even 1hr in exchange for Rs.2200.

@unknown - I'm not filthy rich by any means. Neither am I super busy. You're mistaken in thinking though that selling the map would require an hour - I have to compile my data from different places and programs to produce a map which is user friendly. I'd be willing to spend the time and effort but I haven't seen interest from enough buyers to do it. When I posted this I thought [mistakenly] that I would get a lot of buyers but it didn't work out that way. Instead of removing this page (I have my full rights to keep it - I own this site and I built it from scratch so I can do whatever I want with it) I'll edit it so it doesn't annoy more people. If after a while I still don't get enough people interested then sure I'll remove it.

Hi, I'll be in Kathmandu this year (unfortunately only for 6 weeks) and if you're putting together a map I can install on my Garmin Nuvi 660, count me in.

It's not THAT easy to find your way around the Kathmandu/Patan area. Any help (particularly since I won't have a driver this year) would be greatly appreciated!

@sidne - yay. welcome back! let us know when you're here... we've been having LOST nights and it's been a lot of fun. if you're here before the season ends you're welcome to join us. and yes - you can have the map. it won't be an entirely user friendly version (as mentioned above) but you can have it for free :)

Nice concept and definitely useful. I think you should promote this onto mass. Although the interest might not be much at the moment, i see a potential.

I myself do not own a GPS device and do know my way around town.

Just wanted to post this as to ask you not to take the page down.

Cheers!

possibly never at this rate. the number of people who want GPS devices in ktm is very small. the number of people with an iPhone who want GPS is even smaller :)

its best you deal with mobile device company and developed the street map for mobile device and sell mass production with decreasing price so every body will happy ( like windows mobile or jave based )
