'The Mahabharata : An Impression'--An Exhibition of Paintings


A solo exhibition of paintings by Kurchi Dasgupta to be inaugurated by H. E. Mr. Rakesh Sood, followed by a brief talk by Dr. Amiya K. Dev


Dr. Amiya K. Dev: a brief bio
Eminent scholar, comparatist, author and educationist, Dr. Amiya Dev will be speaking on The Mahabharata during this trip to Nepal. He is a former Vice Chancellor of Vidyasagar University and was Dean/ officiating Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University, India. A Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Indiana University, USA he founded the Comparative Literature Association of India (CLAI), was the Vice-President of the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA), was a member of the Working Group recommending Eleventh Plan schemes and a Peer Team Chair of National Assessment and Accredition Council, Govt. of India.
 
He has written many critical and reflective essays in various international and national publications, written books and edited books and journals. Currently, a Working President of the Vidyasagar Foundation, an NGO he has also edited a prestigious Project of History of Indian Science, Philosophy and Culture volume for Centre for Studies in Civilizations, Delhi.
 
He has recently edited with Professor Steven Shankman (University of Oregon) a collection of essays on Higher Narrative for the International Comparative Literature Association (Epic and Other Higher Narratives: Essays in Intercultural Studies).
