What's up with all the male worship in Kathmandu?
Today is Teej and while it's cool to see all the women in red walking the streets of Kathmandu no one seems to be questioning the reason for the celebrations. Which apparently is to honor husbands by fasting all day and going to temples to pray for long lives of their husbands. Unmarried women celebrate as well by praying for "good husbands".
Nepal needs to look forward and modernize in order to lift ourselves out of poverty instead of celebrating archaic traditions like these. Anyone see anything good out of celebrating Teej? I certainly don't.
