Faq for Sodne.com

1. What does Sodne mean?

Sodne means "to ask" in Nepali.

2. How do I change my profile picture?

Set up an avatar using the same email address you use to post on sodne.com.

3. How much does it cost?

Sodne is completely free.  Simply select a category and click "Post" - no registration or login required!

4. How are you different from other classifieds?

Posts on sodne.com are based on GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) so you can find stuff around you.  You can ask questions like "who is selling bicycles within 5 kilometers of my house" versus "who is selling bicycles in Kathmandu".  Sodne.com is more powerful because it lets you ask that question anywhere in the world.

5. My city is not on Sodne

Only cities with posts show up on Sodne.  To post under a city not listed simply click on "Post" and enter your city - your city will be automatically added to the list.''

6. Can I subscribe to posts under a category as feeds?

Absolutely.  Sodne supports many different
formats including rss.  Simply add this to your feed reader -

http://www.sodne.com/categories/6/posts.rss?lat=27.702871&lng=85.318244&radius=7

Replace the red numbers for
your location and desired category.  For example the rss feed for Programming jobs (category 6 - see API for category listing) around Kathmandu (latitude = 27.702871 and longitude = 85.318244) is -

A correction: sodne (सोड्ने) doesn't mean "to ask" in Nepali, in fact, it doesnt mean anything. "To ask" is sodhne (सोध्ने) :)

@Bibek - both sodhne.com and sodne.com domain names were available. However, we decided to go with sodne.com since it's shorter. And also since the URL uses latin alphabets, and we are transliterating, who is to say what is the correct spelling in English? Even your own name could be transliterated "correctly" as Vivek for example.
